This is the spot to come for awe-inspiring views over the Grose Valley to Mount Banks and Mount Hay. Named after the anvil that was placed at the lookout way back in 1940, Anvil Rock is a sandstone rock formation that takes a bit of getting to, but it’s well worth the effort.
Located at the end of Hat Hill Road in the Grose Valley, Anvil Rock entails a drive over around eight kilometres of dirt road, not to mention a 10-minute walk from the car park to the actual lookout. So you may want to take this into account if you have any less able people in your party. It’s a beautiful spot though and it also features a wind-eroded cave 400 metres west of the lookout.
